We are looking for a smart individual with solid news judgement, strong writing skills, and the ability to communicate clearly with those in the newsroom and crews in the field. Accurate spelling and a solid understanding of grammar is a must.

Our producers also play an important role in newsgathering across multiple platforms to include television, digital and social media.

Weekend Meteorologist

KEZI 9 News is looking for an energetic, personable Meteorologist who can live our Stormtracker 9 weather brand and provide weather reports in Western Oregon.

The right candidate will produce weather content that is urgent, impactful, interesting and understandable to our viewers. KEZI has the latest technology to help you tell the weather story to viewers utilizing WSI Max Storm system, including MAX Reality and MAX Traffic. Knowledge of this system is preferred. This content is not only produced for television, but digital and social media as well.

A baccalaureate degree in meteorology is preferred along with 1-3 years television experience. Strong preference will be given to candidates with AMS Certified Broadcast Meteorologist seal. Must have a clean driving record. A background check and pre-employment drug screen is required.

The successful candidate will possess excellent news judgment and strong writing skills.  One to three years television news experience as a reporter preferred.  College degree in journalism or communications preferred. Skilled at non-linear editing and videography.  Ability to work under intense deadline pressure.  Outstanding interpersonal skills; a team player.

This position is responsible for the overall look and feel of an assigned newscast including production values, pacing, teasing, writing, enterprising, shooting, editing and presenting news stories for multiple distribution platforms, including KEZI 9 News, KEZI 9.2, kezi.com, Facebook, and Twitter.  Creatively producing stories and effectively using pictures and natural sound to tell a story, with strong audio/video linkage.  Perform live shots from the newsroom and in the field. 

This is a full-time position; rate of pay is hourly.

KEZI 9 News is looking for a competitive, hard-working multimedia journalist in Western Oregon.

The right candidate will be a self-starter, curious about the world around them, detail-oriented and a phenomenal team player. Desire to learn and grow is a must, as well as having social media/digital experience. They will be expected to enterprise content on a daily basis, as well as foster and maintain community contacts and relationships. They will also be able to shoot, edit and write stories for multiple platforms to include television, digital and social media. Active live reporting in the field and studio is a must. They will also be expected to work weekends and holidays.

Degree in Journalism is preferred.  Experienced preferred but willing to give the right entry-level person a shot. Must have a clean driving record.

3+ years’ experience in media sales or related field is preferred.  Looking for a team-oriented professional with a proven record of new business development, digital advertising sales, transactional account management and a tireless work ethic.  Must have excellent oral and written communication skills, the ability to multi-task well in a fast-paced environment, and superb customer relations skills.   An Oregon driver’s license and good driving record are required as well as a pre-employment drug screen and background check.
